How to play
New island
Choose how the island starts
Set the basic shape of a new map: flatter or hillier terrain, fewer or more rivers, and the island size you want to build on.
Terrain tools
Plan routes through the landscape
Islands are generated with natural-looking coastlines, rivers and broad valleys where your railway can wind through the terrain. When you lay track, the ground can adjust automatically with cuttings and embankments so the line keeps a reasonable grade.
The fleet
Run more than trains
Nearly 350 vehicles, most of them railway and mostly Czech and European: steam, diesel and electric locomotives, multiple units, coaches and freight cars. Beside them run buses and trams on your streets, ferries and liners between your ports, aircraft in and out of your airports, and cable cars over the hills. Preview any vehicle in 3D before you add it.

The Creator
Bring your own models to the island
Rail Island ships nearly 350 vehicles and 137 buildings — and when what you want is not among them, you add it yourself. The Creator is a workshop of its own, and it costs nothing on either plan.

Bring a .glb file and place it on your island as a building, a train, a bus, a tram, a ship, an aircraft or a cable-car cabin. It is used exactly as the models the game ships are.

Design your own woodland
A woods type is a recipe rather than a tree: a density, and a mix of species each with its own height range. Build one, keep it in your library, and paint it on every island you make.

The Community list holds everything other players have shared, ready to place on your own island — and every model the game itself ships is listed beside it, down to its geometry and file size.
